queer + euphoria = [queerphoria]
queer - umbrella term that describes sexual and gender identities other than straight and cisgender
euphoria - a state of intense happiness and self-confidence
[queerphoria] is an exhibition that invites queer individuals into a meaningful conversation about their identity. Through these written and visual exhibitions, we encourage dialogue around the difficult topics that surround the relationship between the queer and non-queer community.
In light of current world events, artists experiencing censorship, transphobic and homophobic legislation, and the climate crisis, [queerphoria] returns to NYC Jewelry Week 2024 to create a space where artists are free to express themselves through the art of jewelry making and craft.
[queerphoria] volume 4 builds on the previous three volumes, in an immersive in-person exhibition exploring the concept of connection in its broadest form. Participants submitted work or engaged in discussions that explored their diverse interpretations of this theme; encompassing connection to culture, land, identity, politics, surroundings, nature, family, and more. By bringing together individual artists' works and stories, we create a collective narrative that creates an experience of belonging and community.
[queerphoria] is not only an exhibition but an educational tool to shed light on queer makers and their practice, opening up a space for connection. [queerphoria] vol 4: connection is curated by Queer Metalsmiths’ co-founders SULO BEE, Tracey Carswell, and Rebecca Lee.
[queerphoria] is to be seen. [queerphoria] is to be felt. [queerphoria] is to be heard.
